The 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT3 is one of the most exciting introductions of the year for the racing community. Much like other GT3 racecars from other companies, it was not expected to race in the United States, leaving us all wondering where to watch the 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT3 race around a track. This, as it turns out, is not the case! The 2018 Mercedes-AMG is now scheduled to race in the 2017 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, which is the premier endurance racing series in North America. To watch the Mercedes-AMG GT3 in action, find the races on television, taking place between January and October of 2017. The first race will be the Rolex24 at Daytona on January 26th.

The Mercedes-AMG lineup continues to grow with the introduction of the 2017 Mercedes-AMG GLE43 SUV. Previously only available as the Mercedes-AMG GLE43 Coupe, the SUV variation bridges the gap between the GLE350 and the Mercedes-AMG GLE63 and replaces the GLE400. If you’re looking forward to the release date, you may be pleased to learn it will go on sale in the first quarter of 2017.

AMG®-Enhanced Engine

The 2017 GLE43 SUV will come with a 3.0L V6 biturbo engine, the same one that you would find under the hood of the GLE43 Coupe. It is not handcrafted to perfection like the majority of the Mercedes-AMG engines, but it is enhanced by AMG® to make 362 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque.

Transmission

The GLE43 SUV comes with one of the best transmissions on the market right now. The 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission is quickly replacing the 7-speed that has been the standard on Mercedes-AMG vehicles for the last decade. More gears means more agility, speed, efficiency, and comfort all at the same time.

Acceleration

We can only speculate as to how much time the Mercedes-AMG GLE43 SUV needs to get to 60 miles per hour, but in coupe form, it can do it in 5.6 seconds, so we expect the number to be right around this time, maybe a tenth of a second or so slower.

Efficiency

Again, we don’t know exactly how efficient the GLE43 SUV will be, but based on the specifications of the Coupe version at 17 city/23 highway, we expect the GLE43 to ballpark around 16 city/22 highway miles per gallon.

Price

Mercedes-Benz is on a rampage to make sure no market is left untapped. From the compact car to the commercial van, Mercedes-Benz has a pretty good idea of what people are buying, and it wants in. In fact, the German automotive legend is so bold that it has created a few new models that seemingly have no or little competition. Take, for example, the GLC Coupe or the E-Class All-Terrain. Granted, there are a few competitors for these, but literally only a few.

SUV Coupe

The SUV coupe is somewhat of a new design in the industry. It could be considered a crossover, but then again, the GLA SUV is already referred to as a crossover because it is small and tall, giving it the confidence to drive on the road and in the dirt. An SUV Coupe, is a shorter version of an already existing SUV. Right now, Mercedes-Benz has two other SUV coupes in its arsenal known as the GLE Coupe and the GLC Coupe. Engine

Right now, there are two engines available for the GLA SUV. A 2.0L I4 and a 2.0L I4. The difference between them is where they are made, resulting in drastically different power outputs. The Mercedes-Benz version has 208 horsepower, but the Mercedes-AMG makes 375 horsepower without any increase in displacement whatsoever.

Here is what we’ve been waiting for. Mercedes-Benz probably won’t release any pictures until later this year or early next year, but imagine a motorcycle with a roof. Mercedes-Benz is known for its luxury and performance. For this reason, it keeps its name out of the Smart lineup of cars, but it is not completely removed from the brand thanks to BRABUS. The 2017 BRABUS Xclusive Smart Fortwo offers more than 100 horsepower and weighs just over 2,000 pounds. Now, this is still quite a bit heavier than a motorcycle, but light enough to get the car up to 100 miles per hour! Unfortunately, it won’t be available in the United States this year, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be available in the future!

Smart Fortwo vs BRABUS Xclusive Fortwo

The difference between the Xclusive version and the base Smart Fortwo is half performance and half visual upgrades that make the car look faster. On the performance end, the suspension and the engine are specially tuned to help the car accelerate, corner, and stop faster than the normal version. It has 20 more horsepower and 25 more lb-ft of torque, which isn’t enough to raise your blood pressure like the C-Class or the S-Class Brabus Xclusive cars, but it does help a lot with performance.

Performance

Despite the powerful 1.0L turbocharged 3-cylinder engine and the sport suspension, the BRABUS Xclusive Smart Fortwo still needs 9.5 seconds to get to 60 miles per hour from a stop. This means it is significantly slower than every other car on the road, but let’s not forget about the luxury!

BRABUS Xclusive Equipment Package

For an extra $3,000, the BRABUS Smart Fortwo can be outfitted with an equipment package that makes it look less like an AMC Gremlin. A lot less. With the package, you get a ton of Brabus badging, which looks good on any car, sports seats, and a new instrument cluster. All we know for sure is that we want it!

For many years, Mercedes-Benz has been selling 1:18 scale models of most of its cars and trucks. Like the real cars, sometimes you can find limited edition models that will appreciate in value, and look great on a shelf, just like the real things. The newest model to join these ranks is the 2017 Mercedes-AMG G63 1:18 scale model SUV. It looks just like the real thing except it’s 18 times smaller and a fraction of the price.

All the colors you see below are actual limited-edition colors that are currently available on the Mercedes-AMG G-Class. This includes both the G63 and the G65. The model is only available as a G63, but the visual differences from the exterior are very minimal.

Only 463 of these G-Class SUVs will come off of what we assume is a tiny production line, meaning they will be extremely limited.

Price

Normally, the price of Mercedes-Benz models ranges from $75-$200. Because this is a limited-edition model, you should expect to pay at least twice this. They will be hard to get a hold of, but if you do manage to finagle yourself one, don’t drive it because it will be too small. By keeping it in the garage, the model will increase in value over time, producing returns of over 1000% or more depending on how long you can resist playing with it.

United States

The 2017 Mercedes-AMG G63 1:18 scale model will be available at dealerships all over the world, but there won’t be enough to go around. Because of this, we regret to let you know that no American dealerships will get any of them. There are thousands more dealerships in the world than there are G63 models, so if your local dealership doesn’t have any on the showroom floor, you might have to wait until they show up on Ebay!

Release

Mercedes-Benz has officially stated that the Mercedes-AMG GT will be available again by the end of this summer. It will exist as the entry-level model for the GT lineup, but it will be far from tame with 456 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. What is the appeal to the GT over the GT S or the GT R? Well, price, for one. Street functionality, for two.

Handcrafted AMG 4.0L Biturbo V8

The GT will have the same engine that the GT S and the GT R share. The difference is that it will be tuned down, not only to save on the overall price of the car, but also to be more friendly to drivers who won’t be driving their GTs on the track. After all, the GT R looks and drives incredibly, until you get stuck at a busy red light and accidentally shred your tires in front of a police officer. With only 456 horsepower instead of 503 in the GT S and 577 in the GT R, the 2017 Mercedes-AMG is more than you need to show off around town.

Curb Weight

The other big difference between the three GTs is the curb weight. The GT will be lighter than the GT S, but heavier than the GT. Therefore, even though it has less power than the GT S, it will probably keep up pretty well. Convertible, cabriolet, roadster, formula one race car…All of these vehicles expose the top of your head to the elements, but what sets them apart? Are they just buzz words or do they have meaning? Especially if you are shopping for a new Mercedes-Benz, you have probably asked yourself, “What is the difference between a cabriolet and a roadster?” After reading this article, you’ll be like, “Ohhh, so simple. I could have thought of that myself!”

Convertible

As you may have expected, cabriolet is a foreign word for convertible. It defines a vehicle that has a hard- or soft-top retractable roof. This can be found on a sedan, coupe, wagon, or even an SUV in some cases. In the Mercedes-Benz lineup, you can look to the C-Class, E-Class, and S-Class for examples.

The weird part is the word itself. Cabriolet is quite obviously a French word, so why does it pop up in the German auto industry? As it turns out, the Germans stole this word and use it to describe a vehicle with a convertible roof. It’s too bad though, because we like the direct German translation for convertible better; umwandelbar.

Roadster

Just like our old friends the square and the rectangle, a roadster is a convertible but a convertible is not necessarily a roadster. Roadster defines a vehicle that has an open top, two doors, two seats, and is made for sport. To help drivers deal with global warming (not really), Mercedes-Benz is stepping up its convertible game. First the S-Class, then the C-Class, and now the 2017 Mercedes-AMG C63 Cabriolet. Previously only available as a coupe C-Class, the C63 and C63 S offer supercar performance without giving up any interior amenities. This means you can have your cake and eat it too at 174 electronically-limited miles per hour.

What the heck is biturbo?

Twenty years ago, no one would have dreamed of turbocharging a V8. It wouldn’t even have been thought of as possible. Now, Mercedes-Benz is willing to throw a biturbo system in anything that breathes. We aren’t complaining, just a little bit confused. The engine in the C63 and C63 S is basically that of the one in the Mercedes-AMG GT S. Why even make a GT S if the C-Class, an entry-level Mercedes-Benz, offers the same performance? We admit that the GT is slightly faster, but not $60,000 faster.

AMG SPEEDSHIFT

The 7-Speed SPEEDSHIFT multi-clutch transmission that you will find in the C63 and C63 S will be the same one found in all of the top-of-the-line Mercedes-Benz vehicles. It shifts faster than the blink of an eye and is virtually indestructible. Some may wonder why the 9-Speed transmission doesn’t make its way into the racing world, but the answer is that cars like the AMG C63 have enough power to push the 7-speed around like it is a 9-speed.

For the Mercedes-AMG collector, there will be a limited Edition 1 model that will feature every option available with a few unique extras… for a significant price. You may have stumbled upon the term If you are currently in the market for an efficient Mercedes-Benz diesel or a performance-laden Mercedes-AMG because the brand has been using NANOSLIDE for more than 10 years.

Twin-Wire Arc Spray

Mercedes-Benz NANOSLIDE is a process in which iron and carbon wires are melted together and onto the surface of a cylinder. Similar to the way carbon fiber is made, NANOSLIDE produces lighter, stronger, and smoother material by process of interweaving the melted wires.

Benefit

There are many benefits to NANOSLIDE. Because it is stronger, it makes the engine more reliable. The weight loss factor makes the engine more efficient and more agile. In fact, NANOSLIDE engines have been found to reduce friction by up to 50%. Really the only downfall is the obvious one; price.

AMG Engines

NANOSLIDE started as an AMG-exclusive technology. Its performance benefits make it perfect for the track because it will make an engine more powerful and help it last longer at full capacity. Today, you can’t buy a Mercedes-AMG without reaping the benefits of NANOSLIDE. The new 2017 Mercedes-AMG E43, for example, uses it to send 400 horsepower to all four wheels through a 9-speed transmission.

BlueEFFICIENCY

The other application of NANOSLIDE began in 2011. The efficiency benefits of NANOSLIDE prompted Mercedes-Benz to come up with BlueEFFICIENCY. This term has since evolved to BlueTEC, but new passenger diesel vehicles still use NANOSLIDE to boost EPA ratings. If you own a diesel Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, for example, you have NANOSLIDE bragging rights. Could NANOSLIDE be the Mercedes-Benz secret after all? Perhaps there is nothing else to it. If you are an Asphalt 8 fan, you have probably noticed the Mercedes-Benz cars passing the finish line before you do. For this, we have good news and we have bad news. The good news is that you aren’t the only one getting royally defeated by these space ships. The bad news, however, is that these cars don’t actually exist. Not really anyway. They did begin as concepts that were unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show a few years back, but they are too far ahead of the times to offer any kind of value to the modern driver. Mercedes-Benz Silver Lightning

The first concept is the Mercedes-Benz Silver Lightning. It is a fully electric car that features omni-directional wheels. This feature could be useful in handling situations, we guess, but it seems like overkill for parallel parking. The Silver Lightning is made to resemble the Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow race cars of the 1930s. Another cool feature of this car is the Mag-Tech roof. Instead of being made of one hard- or soft-top roof, the Silver Lightning has a few smaller squares that come together magnetically. This makes it easier to switch from convertible to coupe and makes it more stable than a standard convertible.

Mercedes-Benz Biome

Here is where things get weird. When Mercedes-Benz introduced the Biome, it said a bunch of things that we don’t understand. First, the body is made out of something that was grown in a lab. As if that isn’t hard enough to understand, the company says it would be powered by a fuel that hasn’t been invented yet. Nonetheless, it is one of the fastest cars in the game and its only emission is pure oxygen. How is that for efficiency?

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive
