How to be a Greener Driver

With Earth Day coming up this month, many people are looking for ways to reduce their carbon footprint and overall live a greener life. One area that most people can easily change is their driving habits. Today we’re going to take a look at a few ways that you can be a greener driver, without trading in your vehicle for hybrid.

Tips of Being a More Eco-Friendly Driver

For many drivers, buying a hybrid or electric powered vehicle isn’t ideal, but there are still quite a few ways to be a more eco friendly driver. The first way is by cleaning out your trunk. Extra weight in your vehicle means that your car is working harder to run. By eliminating weight, you can improve your fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. The EPA estimates that for every extra 100 pounds your car carries, it loses 2% in fuel economy.
Another thing you can do is to start car pooling. If you have a large vehicle like the Mercedes-Benz GLE, you might want to think about starting a carpooling club with some coworkers. Everyone can benefit from driving their vehicle less. Not only does this decrease the amount of pollution released into the air, but it also decreases the amount you and your friends will have to pay for gas. If you all take turns driving, the environment (and your wallet) will notice the difference!
